This is just my opinion, but I think karma is slightly annoying. At first I thought it was a great idea. Because staff members would be able to keep track of who was being active and positive on the site, and reward them accordingly. Karma can help the staff members keep things in order. And if other members are randomly exulting and smiting people without reasons, the top administration has the power to tinker with the karma, to make it more accurate. The reason I no longer like karma that much is because it creates a competetive atmosphere. This may not happen to everyone else, but if my karma is way under Ana's or Arianhrods, it makes me feel that I need to do better. There's nothing I can really do about that. The competitive instincts are just human nature. (Goodness knows, I HAVE to be competative about something, seeing as I've never cared about sports). But then again, forcing me to compete to get more karma forces me to make sure I am being a good moderator, and kind to all the members. Therefore, maybe karma isn't all that bad. No that I think about it, perhaps that was a bit long-winded. If I get smited for that, I won't be suprised. This isn't the debating board.

yeah, go start a debate about karma! lol. i kinda understand the competition, but really, i think people dont' do it randomely and it does help keep track. also, it tells me how you(you and arianhrod) and other mods are regarded. it's natural to compete, but you have the power to make your karma 500 for all i care! not that you would do that, of course.

As a global moderator I can tamper with people's karma (as mentioned above). So, for like 2 seconds, I maxed out my karma. Then I changed it back.

^ lol. But yeah, I get extremely competivtive too. Over little things as well, but I just...like with people who have more karma than me...I don't know, with this, it only bugs me a little, and I don't really feel that competitive about karma.

That's a good way to put it. And a good way to get people to post more! If they actually care...
