Currently, there is a rule on the forums that it is required to use correct grammer. If that rule is not followed, moderators like myself are supposed to delete posts. I feel that this rule should not exist as I can think of no reasons for it to. Incorrect grammer is not in any way harmful, nor do I think it makes reading difficult.

Well, sometimes bad grammer makes things hard to follow. I give Ana that much. But deleting posts! No!! People should be able to post whatever they want w/o having to worry about grammer. It's a chat! Chat's never have proper grammer! And I do not believe in these sentence limits and grammer deletion things. Unless it's offensive or off topic...people should post whatever they want. Now, I understand why it might be hard for Ana, not being from an English speeking country to have in correct grammer. But, we are better off with friendly reminders, rather than these rules, which might be overkill.

I agree with you. I feel that it is reasonable to expect people to use some basic punctuation, such as periods and the occasional comma, but more than that should not be commonly expected.

first of all, i DON"T delete posts and dn't ask a mod to. what you're supposed to do is edit the person's post if it's TOO much, and if it happens a lot, ask them to try to use at least some punctuation, because sometimes i have no idea what people are saying because they spell words wrong so that you can't tell what it is, they have no periods and no commas.

How about we change the wording of the rule so that it says: posts must be legible/understandible?

Yeah, that would probably work. We need to state that a mod. may ask you to use slightly more punctuation or correct spelling, but only in a specific area where there is problems with that. And there is NO refusing to count someone's 500+ posts because they didn't use correct punctuation on them. Also, Ana, on the banner on the top of the lists of boards, you say that you will delete posts that don't follow the rules.

Yeah. Say things like you should warn a person on an issue 3 times, but then you have the the power to delete IF NECESSARY.

I think I'll lock it. I hate it when the debates are still open and I check on it before realizing that it's ended.
