Ok, so basically the point of this debate is, should the homework teachers assign be related to the subject? for example, i always assign homework related to my subject, such as charms homework is about spells. yet once arianhrod had a non history of magic related lesson. should there be a policy stating that homework and class topics should only be related to the subject of the class? why or why not shoud there be such a rule? feel free to post your evidence and arguments. opinions do NOT count, you MUST have an agrument!!
note: i deleted megan's post because she obviously didn't read anything and posted her OPINION, no arguments or evidence. i'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

I remember doing the homework assingment in question, an assignment to send you an email to protest the homework and class requirement policy. I chose to do the homework, seeing as I was in favor of a decree banning the requierment of classes and homework. As one of the main protestors of the homework requirement policy, I encouraged arianhrod to post a homework assingment to email Ana with thoughts on the current homework policy. I would like you to know, Ana, that the lesson has been deleted from the History of Magic site. Likewise, you should delete or edit any past lessons that require research or that require over 30 minutes of free time. However, let's go back to our original debate. Ater the passing of Educational Decree #1, I haven't given much thought to the issue of staying on topic for lessons. However, now that I consider it, believe that their should be a policy telling teachers that they need to stay on topic. While at the time I did like the assignment given out by arianhrod, I do believe now that the assigment was not really apropriate. A class has a topic, and the topic should be stuck to. Your Math teacher doesn't start doing science labs one day does he/she? So, why should teachers on HWH? Now, that I have brought the issue to mind, I believe that an educational decree #2 should be passed in order to make sure that teachers stay on topic. It is somewhat like random chatting, off topic things don't make sence.

Thank you for replying, ldragontongue. I agree, my math teacher doesn't do science stuff and so on. i know why you did the homework, but that has been solved so let's forget that. I did consider passing an educational decree #2, but i wanted to hear your opinions and any arguments there were.

Well I suppose you could dissagree depending on the circumstance, But I am sure I am right in thinking that homework form a particular subject should be on the subjec or there is no point in doing it, right?

no point in doing it....sometimes there is a point. we are making an example of arianhor'd lesson, which was a protest of required homework. so there is a point in doing it.

I agree that their are purposes for making homework not related to your topic. However, was making homework for protest approprite? Not everyone agreed with the plan for educational decree 1, even if it did get passed. Should teachers be sticking their opinion up as people's homework? Probably not. So, while for some there was a point, as was the case for me at that point in time, it would have been better to just stick to teaching your subject. Your Math teacher doesn't teach you science. He/she shouldn't be making you write anti-bush/anti-kerry messages in Math class either. Is that appropriate? Or should she stick to teaching Math? Think about that.

Here is my plan for a new decree.
Educational Decree #2
All teachers are required to post lessons that are related to their subject. If a teacher posts a lesson that does not have anything to do with their subject, such as an assignment to write a protest letter, they are therefore violating this decree, and must remove the lesson immidiatly. The teacher has the right to make their case against the webmistress, or any staff member that questions a lesson. In the event that it is found that the assignment does, in fact, fit with the subject of the class, the argument will end there. If the staff member requests that edits be made to the lesson, the proper edits must be made. However, if the lesson is truly off topic, and the teacher refuses to remove the lesson in question, or if a teacher refuses to edit the text of their lesson, they will be penalized. Anyone who did the homework on the lesson, however, will not, and should not be punished. In the event that someone is penalized for doing an assingment, the staff member who punished the member shall be punished and the member shall be free of all charges.

Writing a paper in History is not considered "English". Counting in a foreign language is not Math. I agree with Ana fully. We mean off topic homework!
