is it ok if girls wear skimpy clothing, or is it giving the wrong idea?

I believe that skimpiness to a certain degree is tolarable, but skimpy clothes should be made available to boys as well. And baggy pants should not just be in the boys' section. Whenever I go into a store like American Eagle or Abercrombie and Fitch (a rare occurance, but I do go on occasion) I see enormous pants and shirts that come down past the knees on the male mannequins and inch-high waistbands and severely-low cut and cropped shirts on the females. This REALLY sends the wrong message. I say either ban that type of clothing altogether or make the skimpy stuff available to both genders.
(Girls may be wearing tons of skimpy clothing because there's nothing else in the stores for them. I myself solved that particular problem by getting all of my pants from the boy's section in Old Navy. This may be irrevelant, but none of the pockets in the girl's pants are big enough to actually hold anything. Even if they were, they're so tight that you can't get your hand in all the way. Girls' clothing these days isn't functional!!!)
In addition, I think that there should be sensible limits. Tops, in girls' cases, should cover bras completely. This doesn't matter for guys because guys don't wear bras. Bottoms, in both cases, should cover the person's underwear.
I do wear the occasional short skirt or low cut top, but I never wear anything that I wouldn't wear in front of my 3-year-old cousin.

Well i just don't agree with it. Me and my friends call the girls who have real "skimpy" clothing on barbies. and some guys at are school wear girl pants which is well ya. Sure we can wear whatveer we want but i dont want to go to school and be walking around and see revealing things. Its not right. Its ok if the "barbies" wear there skirts and tops and ya but dont have it be so dang short.

I think girls have gone a little too far. Sure, girls can wear what they want, but I personally feel that when girls are out in public their cloathing should show at least some decency. I think that all skimpy clothing does is play with the minds of perverted boys. It also gives the girl who wears the cloathing the reputation of being a skank.

i agree with draco malfoy-often there's nothing to wear! but also, it doest send the wrong message to boys, and boys tend to go for skimpy dressed girls. it's completely wrong!

No, it's not the girls fault that boys are like that. And not all girls who wear skimpy clothing are skanks. What I'm saying is that someone who wears that clothing will usually be giving the reputation of being a skank whether or not they are. It's a bad trait, but people do judge other people based off of looks. There's no doubt about it.

i dont really care about skimpy tops as long as nothing's showing...i mean i could really care less if girls walked around in sports bras and shorts all summer (and in august and sept. i know a bunch of the girls on the cc team do just that). its when girls wear stuff that they're hanging out of that's gross.
Like one time this past summer, I saw this 40-something mom at the pool with her two or three kids and she was wearing a bikini top that was at least two sizes too small...........That's just disgusting. I don't care how much in shape she was, i don't think ANYONE needs to see stuff like that.
but really, as long as your tops and bottoms cover up your underwear (well, like i said, the tops bit doesnt matter for guys...) i dont think people should care what everyone is wearing. wear whats comfortable and be done with it. you dont need to spend hours on a raging internal debate about whether youll be thought a skank or not. if you can manage to bend down in a skirt without displaying your panties and if your chest isn't threatening to pop out of your shirt, then go ahead and wear it if you think its comfortable!
...and actually, i know a couple of guys who'd look really good in short skirts...^__^....within reason, obviously...

I agree. When people are showing their underware, or wearing things that are just too small, that is gross. That is going WAY too far.

well, i agree that it's ok to show skin as long as nothing's showing. but if you continually dress like a , it will give off the wrong message. some boys like that osme dont'. but i reallly thnk that some girls go way too far.

Well, yeah. But it a girl is wearing a tank and a mini, I don't think people should make a huge deal over it. Or if someone's preforming, because it's preforming, and you're dressed up for that.

Totally. I agree! Stage costumes don't count. Halloween costumes do. There are some REALLY skanky outfits out there for females for halloween......I will say that i saw a 'wet t-shirt contest' costume and that was not the worst by far, believe you me. I will leave things at that.
Seriously. Some girls dress up like women of negotiable affection and worse on Halloween. Whats up with that? Its so gross. But its like the dude said on mind of mencia--its dress like a day and its the one day of the year where people can dress like that and no one can say anything.
What i think is the worst about skimpy clothing is that there are like seventh graders wearing this stuff. Girls that havent developed yet are wearing clothes that are cut to emphasize pectoral attributes they have not yet grown.
It would be funny if it weren't so creepy.

I agree. Girls need to wear things more age-appropriate. Just like how its really creepy when you see old women wearing bikinis....

Yeah, I mean every generation has its "overtly sexual" stuff, like the waltz and elvis and so on, but things are really being taken too far here. i mean, we're PART of this generation and WE don't seem to agree with it! that should tell the clothing manufacturers something.
