Yeah, even if people only do one of those things, they shouldn't be counted as inactive unless they cease doing it for 5+ months. Then, they are inactive. Also, since homework is optional, the teacher should state whether or not that person is active in their class, maybe by having other things in classes, such as suggestions for future lessons. Also, the teacher should be able to email their class members to see if they still are interested in the class.

I totally agree with the classes statement...but 5 months might be a little too much...

arianhrod, i think you just want people's emails on the classes page. however not everyone wants their email on the web. so if you need the email of a student(s) in your class you may email me.
for the criteria, it could be "sends Ana at least 5 emails about HWH per month and earns at least 5 points per month". since you earn point for, like, anything on HWH, and imean everything that shouldn't be too hard. Also, they could get bonus points for teaching a class, being REALLy active joining the forum, and posting a lot on the forum. That would also help me decide who will be the next fan of the month if we have no applicants.

I think using the criteria to decide fan of the month is a great idea! It's better that submissions where too many people can win by defult. And I agree with the send 5 emails, earn 5 points, because that'll tell you that the person is active, but busy. And how many months should all the criteria be for? I'd say about 2, 5 is too much.
Also, how long should warning period/ probation last? Maybe like 1mth warning/2 wk probation? And then, maybe criteria could be for one month?

It is being written by ldragontongue, who will post an outline and a rough draft when she is finished. Then, everyone on the forums will be able to view it and offer suggestions. From now on, please direct questions about the policy to the policy debate board.

I found something very interesting while browsing the site, working on the HWH policy. On the get sorted page Ana wrote the following: Think about it. What good is deducting 10 points from someones house? They made it clear that they no longer want to be a member on HWH. So, DO THEY CARE if 10 points are taken away? All it does is punish active members. And, what happens to these people? If Ana doesn't let them quit, they become inactive. While we figure out what to do for inactive members, let's also figure out something to do with this.

your right. if they quit they dont care about anything anymore. i dont think there is a punishment that we could give them that actually makes them care.

One question though. Why can't people quit? Just wondering.
